3d coat alphas folder4/6/2024 Assuming you exported your object first, it *should* contain your materials you assigned to it. Its like the settings are stuck despite resetting the workspace, shutting down and whatever else I do. Now, no matter what I try to paint in 3dcoat, a material I used keeps going on the item from earlier. However, its a mess and cannot find anywhere to exactly explain it. I understand that they are treated differently for different things. I cannot grasp why this stuff cannot just go along with the file. I am about to pull out my hair with this. However, they are gone whenever I export it. My paint and materials showed up from Zbrush out of nowhere. Now I am having problems galore in 3d coat. Zbrush kind of drives me crazy (but my wife would say it's a short trip). The author is also VERY nice - he always has a Christmas sale because the holidays are very important to him, so if it turns out you do like it I'm sure you can get it at a good price. Have you tried 3DCoat? I really like that program, and I know there is a free trial. Thank you for all your help and patience with me. I am willing to learn something new, but I want something that does not seem like a patched together dinosaur like Zbrush. I really want to learn this the right way and have put tons of hours into this. In Photoshop, I cannot seem to figure out how to get a map generated for the paint. I am trying to paint glasses that are on a face. I tend to have little small dots that hit other areas. The problem I run into Paint 3d is that there is not good control on the painting like in Zbrush or Photoshop. Would Mudbox be a good choice? I really like the idea of a real 3d environment and not the way Zbrush does it. What is the term for that? I have a struggle finding things online because I still do not know all of the terms but am getting better. It is nice for this project because it directly saves the paint on the file. What other options do I have? Paint 3 is obviously very limited. It makes no sense and I am done with Zbrush after even learning the horrid interface. The paint never aligns and it is not like in the videos where you flip it horizontally or vertically to fix. Zbrush screws up everything when I create maps. The only option that I have used that works is Paint 3d. BCuz 3DC will install normally all it's data Presets under the user/Documents folder and by doing it the way written above you are saving your presets on a different drive.I am trying to paint something very simple. This is the cleanest way to keep your presets if you want to Wipe your PC. Clean and simpleīTW anyone else reading this. Then open the "txt" and write in the path/folder where you want to have all the 3DC Packs presets etc to be like this exp:" D:\3DCoat\" This will create a auto exchange path from User/doc to the new folder. Just install 3DC "lets say \C\Program\3DCoat\ and before starting 3DC create the "coat_data_path.txt" and put it inside the main folder where 3DC is installed. How does the content of the coat_data_path.txt look like?ĬOAT_FILES_PATH E:\Dokumente\3dCoat\3D-CoatV47/ If you will not create file coat_data_path.txt and will not define variable COAT_FILES_PATH then 3D-Coat will use 3D-CoatV4 folder in User’s folder under any OS. In this case all changed files wil be written to new location but if installation location is read only you will not be able to delete any folders or files (like initial brushes, materials, strips, models) of initial installation inside 3D-Coat’s shell. License file should be placed in the same folder as all data files. After that you should create file coat_data_path.txt in the same folder as executables or define environment variable COAT_FILES_PATH that will point to the location of changed data files. Install 3D-Coat to any location (even protected or user- dependent). Other possibility (optional, just for convenience) is to separate 3D-Coat’s installed files and files that was changed during the work so that you may place 3D-Coat installation files to protected or read-only location. Separating changed data from installed files to share data between users I recently talked with Andrew about this and he gave me the best solution ever! You only need to change the path. Is there a way to store brush alphas on a different drive to have a better time managing the Texture Folder. Are you serious? The original PSD file is about 8 MB. The Texture Folder alone is about 50GB! 3d Coat is converting the textures in his own format, as I recognised. I added some Alpha Textures and the folder is about to explode. I have some huge problems with the default Document folder (C:\Users\XXX\Documents\3D-CoatV47).
